Illyrians

Description

I'm not as much an Illyrian expert than other things (I use the term "expert" loosely) the centre helmet is on display in Zagreb I believe. Anyhow this was a request. The few Sica scabbards I can find are that design on the Illyrian Hoplite, so this is why I generally use the same one. I do also believe there were two handle designs for sicas (amongst a wide variety of shapes) the forward facing grip style and the straight standard grip. There's lots of times I add things in that "would make sense" but don't actually exist. the ram's horns on the helmet are an inspiration from  different helmet (the culture is escaping me). As well as the Musculata which is a combination of an Illyrian and Greek design.
A sidenote: There is not very many resources available for studying Illyrians that are easy enough to find. If you were to be from their homeland and speak the language it would be much easier I'm sure. I have found that real proper published illustrations of Illyrians are extremely scarce in that I can not find any.

They are arrayed as a montage, and not necessarily to scale

Most excellent Mr Smooth - I must say that if any scholar were looking for an illustrator to help bring Ancient Illyria to the masses they would be very, very wise to call upon your own services.Nod

Goodness me that fellow on the left looks big enough to swallow a bull whole, horns and all! No wonder they gave him the best armour, they're probably hoping he won't grind their bones to make his bread if they bribe him thoroughly enough!:D (Big Grin)
