Thracian warriors

Description

A noble with an infantryman. Thrace is so full of different styles of gear; it makes them exceptionally fun to depict.

The weapons: Sica, and Romphaia (L to R) and thureos shield. Perhaps they recieved the idea for the thureos from celts, or was it the other way around, or did the Illyrians create it? I would imagine as was common in Thrace many celtic shields ended up in their hands to be used alongside the thureos, as well as the copious number of different swords used in thrace.

I found a couple examples of Thracian cuirass which had a flap attachment to protect the groin which was surprising to me as it is a very rare attachment at the time.

I do love the helmets with their decorated face-plates.

They also had crescent-shaped shields (pelta).

Great work.
